BUKO is a lifestyle accessories brand founded in Bondi Beach in 2014 by Australian entrepreneur and surfer Luke Webber.
The idea for BUKO came after Luke returned to Bondi from time spent living in Thailand and Bali. During those years he had developed a love for creating and designing products, and noticed a gap in the market for accessories that felt more natural and authentic. Most phone cases and tech accessories at the time were shiny, plastic or overly decorative. Luke saw an opportunity to create something different — accessories inspired by nature that would still work seamlessly with modern technology.
BUKO was created as a brand for people who appreciate natural materials, simple design and timeless style. The products are designed to feel earthy, durable and understated — a reflection of the surf culture and coastal lifestyle that shaped the brand from the beginning.
Inspired by the Ocean
Luke grew up in Sawtell on the NSW coast, one of four brothers whose backyard was the beach. Surfing has always been a big part of his life, and that connection to the ocean continues to influence the design and philosophy behind BUKO.
Creativity was also something he gravitated towards early on. At school he enjoyed woodworking and even built a surfboard-shaped coffee table in his woodworking class that still sits in his home today — a small reminder of where that creative journey began.
Surf trips to Bali during high school with his brothers and friends deepened his appreciation for design, craftsmanship and the relaxed surf lifestyle that later inspired the brand.
Today Luke still surfs regularly and often takes his two kids down to Bondi Beach, continuing the tradition he grew up with.
A Life of Travel
Before launching BUKO, Luke worked as a pilot, flying across the Australian outback and the Fraser Coast. His career and curiosity for the world took him to many places — living in the Caribbean, South Korea, Thailand and Indonesia, and travelling throughout South East Asia.
Those experiences exposed him to different cultures, materials and design influences that helped shape the philosophy behind BUKO — creating products that feel natural, practical and connected to lifestyle.

BUKO products are designed in Australia and inspired by the coastal environment of Bondi Beach, where Luke has lived for the past 16 years.
The brand focuses on accessories that combine nature with everyday technology – products for people who prefer natural textures over plastic finishes or flashy designs.
